Some Audubon friends and I visited DuPuis Wildlife and Environmental Management Area (WEMA) this morning, to check on two Bald Eagle nests. The bird in the lead photo is an Eastern Meadowlark.

Since my last visit on March 15, I was sure the eagles were roosting elsewhere at night. Weekly sunset vigils by the river never resulted in spotting them returning to their nest. Today I got some bad news. (more…)
