Bon voyage, Karl Rove

The press is busily churning out tens of thousands of words commemorating Karl Rove’s resignation. Rove is a legend in his own time. Pundits are tearing apart their thesauruses in search of epithets to hang on him. One of my favorites is “Bush’s Brain.”

Par for the course

Reuters is quoting U.S. Gen. Raymond Odierno as saying U.S. troop deaths in Iraq are “on par.” On par with July, when only 80 American golf balls were killed. Like any patriotic, red-blooded American who supports our troops, I did some checking.

La Entrada al Pacifico

AlterNet has an article about La Entrada al Pacifico, a major highway to be built from Mexico’s Pacific coast into Texas. While the environmental impact is important, the article overlooks the underlying purpose of this highway and what it means to Americans.
