Wild night at Audubon

Last night, Audubon of Martin County members didn’t have to look for wildlife; the wildlife came to us. David Hitzig of Busch Wildlife Sanctuary, and his family, visited our meeting, and brought along some of their friends.

Red-Shouldered Hawk

A Red-Shouldered Hawk casually stands on one foot. There were other beautiful birds (last four photos here), a small crocodile and a small alligator, a King snake, a Diamondback Rattlesnake and a skunk, but this was the star of the show.

This is a seven-month-old panther cub, though not a pure Florida Panther. She was sold illegally by an exotic-pet dealer and confiscated at Palm Beach International. A close-up is here, and one one more visiting animal photo is here.
